I was very excited to make some small bites for a Wine + Film Pairing party, hosted at The Works last week. The event was centered around a film by Wil Fernandez, called Vintage 2014, which followed the wine grape growing season in Santa Monica County, California. During the film, between each vineyard's story, everyone had the chance to taste a wine from that vineyard and ask any questions. Mike Dawson, Deputy Editor at Wine Enthusiast, was there to present each one; Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Foxen Vineyard & Winery, Bryon Winery, and Riverbench Vineyard & Winery. It was really a great way to learn about new wine and all the hard work that goes into each growing season. Plus, the delicious tastings!
THE FOOD: The wine was the main deal so, I was looking for a fresh, easy to eat snack for people to enjoy between tastings. I decided on a few different types of bruschetta:
- Gorgonzola with crushed walnuts and honey
- Garlic heirloom cherry tomato with a drizzle of olive oil
- Fresh pea puree with lemon and olive oil
They ended up being a big hit!
